Grand Hank

A few weeks back, i applied for a illustration position i found on Craigslist and they recently got back to me about it. I think they have a few other people in mind for the job, so in order to weed out the bunch, they asked that we do a comic strip (which what i'm assuming the job is actually going to be... making comic strips...)

They gave me this character, Grand Hank (which is also a tv show on the Philadelphia public channel.) The show is called, Science Lab of Grand Hank. Its like science show that tries to make science hip and relevant for kids in inner cities, especially Philadelphia, becuase thats' where they're stationed i suppose... Anyways, the strip is suppose to use their character in a "hip hop science" strip...

i don't fully understand how i was suppose to make this hip hoppy... maybe graffiti in the background i suppose, but i it was far out the way to do that, and plus they said that it didn't need to be extremely detailed... I think it came out alright.

judging from the tv show, if i get the job, i don't think it'll be a high paying job... but, any money at this point is dually needed. Anyways, hope you guys like this.

Dumbfoundead Spin Kicks another rapper!!!

I dont write much on here, but one thing i will say is. HOT DAMN! I've been following this asian rapper named Dumbfoundead for awhile now. He's probably one of the best battle rappers out there right now. And if you haven't heard of him, then you obviously don't listen to underground rap battles. Grindtime baby!!!

Anyways, Dumb was battling this one random dude today, and maybe Dumb initiated the conflict by getting too close to the guys face, but the dude pusehd him. And then Dumb opened up a CAN! and Tornado Spin Kicked the dude int he face!!!

OMG!! i love this man. I really don't think this is fake. The things he's saying on his twitter about the incident seem legit and i don't know why any respectful rapper would go out and make something that was fake to promote himself. If this was fake it would only discredit him as an artist. I'm so bent on this being real becuase it so freaken awesome!

WSC: I Love you so much

who doesn't....? They're mad sexy yo!

Iris Chang

Iris Chang wrote "The Rape of Nanking", a non-fiction book about one of the most horrible incidents in human history that remain, sadly unknown to the general public. I drew her because she was the first to make this incident known to the world. Here's 2 paragraphs from the introduction of this book.

"Indeed, even by the standards of history's most destructive war, the Rape of Nanking represents one of the worst instances of mass extermination. To Imagine its comparitive size, we mus brace ourselves for a few more statistics. The death toll of Nanking-one Chinese city alone- exceeds the number of civilian casualties of some European countries for the entire war. (Great Britian lost a total of 61,000 civilians, France lost 108,000, Belgium 101,000, and the Netherlands 242,000). Air bombing is considered by those who reflect on these things one of the most awesome instruments of mass destruction. Yet even the worst air attacks of the war did not exceed the ravagesof Nanking. It is likely that more people died in Nanking than in the British raids on Dresdan and the fire storm that followed. ( The figure 225,000 was accepted internationally at the time, but more objective accounts now place the numb of Dresdan casualties at 60,000 dead and at least 30,000 injured.) INdeed, whether we use the most conservative number- 260,000- or the highest 350,000- it is shocking to contemplate that the deaths at Nanking far exceed the deaths from the American raids on Tokyo (estimated 80,0000-120,000 deaths) and even the combined death toll of the two atomic blasts at Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the end of 1945 (estimated at 140,000 and 70,000, respectively.

The Rape of Nanking should be remembered not only for the number of people slaughtered but for the cruel manners in which many met their daths. Chinese men were used for bayonet practice and in decapitation contests. An estimated 20,000-80,000 Chinese woman were raped. Many soldiers went beyond rape to disembowerl woman, slice off their breasts, nail them alive to walls. Fathers were forced to rape their daughters, and sons their mothers, as other family members watched. Not only did live burials, castration, the carving of organs, and the roasting of people become routine, but more diobolical tortures were practiced, such as hanging people by their tongues on iron hooks or burying people to their waists and watching them get torn apart by German shepherds. So sickening was the spectacle that even the Nazis in teh city were horrified, one proclaimed the massacre to be the work of "bestial machinery. Yet the Rape of Nanking remains an obsure incident. Unlike the atomic explosions in Japan or the Jewish holocaust in Europe, the horrors of the massacre at Nanking remain virtually unknown to people outside of Asia..."

Naruto Wallpaper

so the past month i've been slaving over this wallpaper. I'm a huge Naruto fan... what can i say, and i came across this wallpaper that really inspired me to do my own rendition of it. Basically all the characters all grown up. I go in depth about the character designs in my deviantart. So i'm not really gonna get into that, but i really love how it turned out.

Team 8

i've been drawing naruto characters lately. Basically Its them 10 years from now. If you didn't know by now, i'm a huge naruto fan. One of the only 2 animes that i like. I hate every other anime under the sun. Disgusting. However, i saw this wicked cool wallpaper of all the characters online, and figure lemme try this.

so here is the first 4 that i've drawn. From the left to right is, Hinata, Kiba and Shino. And the Dog is Akamaru. Proabbly how they would end up looking in 10 years from theyre current selves.

look out for Team Guy next.

I don't have Illusions of Grandeur. I'd just rather not have what you have.

You know they tell kids in elementary school that life is so much more than just getting a good job, although it helps. Its so much more than material things, although it would be nice... But that happiness can't be found in such worldly materialistic selfishness that clouds our minds and smothers our hearts with temporary fixes of fraudulent joy that'll pass away in 2 months when the next fad or the upgrade comes out...

somewhere down the line, people bought into that lie just because fighting for a state of mind is harder than settling for temporary spikes of emotion from material items.

Look Deeper. And when you want to give up cause you can't see anything but the filth of life... Look even deeper.

Water can't flow properly from a faucet if there's gunk in the way. I guess we just like dirty water if that means we don't have to take apart the faucet, clean it and put it back together again.

When Spring Comes.

I was inspired by my friend Henry to start my own comic strip.

I had been meaning to get around to this one of these days, but seeing henry actally do one today really got me motivated. Plus, i helped him with the premise of his comic strip!!

anyways, the strip revolves around me and my friend... umm... Lets just call her Girl, for now... She's loosely based off one of my friends, however, this character is nothing like her at all. I just took her look. Anyways, the strip is just gonna be me saying things and then her reaction to those things.

There's a quick mock up of the characters and... hopefully i'll stick with this for awhile. who knows.
