Enveloped.

so i been working on this for the passed few days and to be honest, could probably tighty it up some more, but there comes a time when you say enough is enough.

there really isn't much meaning behind the piece but rather i was inspired by my friends, collie's style. I enjoyed doing this piece.

Hail Modern Mother

Communication Arts submission date is the 22 and i needed something to submit. I think i'm stuck with this style. lol. I can't see to develop something different and unique... Maybe it due time. But, i think this is it.

There were a few meanings behind this pieces before it actually got to this point. At first, i just wanted a do another pretty girl. But somehow the baby made it into the piece. Then it became this piece about how certain woman have amazing potential to do great things in the world, but for some reason or another, they had a child out of wedlock and now their future is completely gone or put on hold.

However, i need a foreground and background and for some reason, i felt like drawing roses falling from the sky. Its like a salute to the modern mother of the 21th century. The woman is of mixed decent, looks like Black and Asian and the baby is an even lighter tone. America is a melting pot, especially in the year 2010. Some people still want to stay within their own race and i understand the reasons why, trust me, a lot of the reasons are no where near being racist, however, i'm a firm believer in the crossing of cultures, ethnicities and diverse backgrounds.

Also, mothers these days have it extremely hard, especially those who are single mothers. Hate to a douche toward men, but guys are complete a-holes these days. Men were born with this amazing ability to fight for what stirs them. If nurtured correctly, a man can raise a family and protect his wife and his kids. If neglected and abused... lets just say woman get left the result of those actions a good majority of the time.

So to see a woman who is a single mother who is making it in the world without the help of a man is truly a feet in itself and should be hailed.

Hopefully i get into Communication Arts...

Leah is all Wordy like that

i was inspired to do this after seeing some really cool typography faces. Not alot of people come to my blog, so this wont get too much exposure, which is cool because Leah wants to use this for something in the future, i'm thinking maybe a flyer or something.

WSC: Avatar

Regardless of how you felt about the story and its underlining themes which i won't get into... You have to admitt, that this is vissually, one of the best movies of all times, if not... THE best visual movie in the history of cinema.

if there was aliens in the universe, i'd pray they are something like the ones we find in this movie. Its just too awesome for words. I can't wait to watch it again and own it when it comes out on dvd. GO WATCH IT NO WHILE ITS STILL IN THEATERS!

China Man

I decided to finish the one i posted from my recent post. It was my grandmothers birthday today and we went out to a restaurant in Chinatown. None of my cousins came. It was just my family, my other grandparents, and 3 cousins... I have a large family. Around 20 plus cousins.

it was ridiculously sad that none of them came. Maybe the word didn't get out to them, but then again maybe it was internal conflict. It just seems like the more i find out about my family, the more drama there is to our history. Thats not to say that other peoples families don't have problems, it just seems like while your in it, its a bigger deal than your friends fam's issues. Know what i mean? I don't think my generation has as many flaws to our characters than the generation before us.

I honestly believe that my brothers and sister and cousins can rise to the occasion and be a better peoples for my family's name.

This portrait is of a chinese man, i found a picture of. I don't know the guy, and while painting it, i didn't specifically have a meaning behind it. But as i finished i couldn't help but think of the my uncles and aunts and my mom and dad... And how it seems like their good intentions for my generation still doesn't proceed their ambitions to hold onto a lifestyle that has never worked.

This portrait is for them. Its for the older generation. PS: on second that... i think i want to continue this painting until the details are more defined. lol

What happened to those days?

What ever happened to the days where a artist could whip up something like this and then have it sold for like... a million dollars? Seriusly. I'm a artist and i painted this. Give me a million dollars! This should be in a museum! Maybe in the impressionism section!!

My kicks

This was fun to do. I been looking at alot of detailed illustrations of characters lately and i kind of want to experiment with that... Plus i need a character design portfolio... Anyways, hope you guys like it.
